The post-Covid-19 global economy is undergoing a digital transformation, presenting various unique challenges. To address these challenges and thrive in the evolving landscape of digital governance and economics, innovative solutions are essential. In this era of digitalisation, numerous powerful economic tools are available within the interconnected global economy.
This policy recommendation focuses on enhancing and diversifying the grassroots economies of the ASEAN region through digital-based policies. It aims to tackle socio-economic mobility issues arising in the post-Covid world and adapt to the rapid growth of the ASEAN population. To achieve this, data on demographics, technology access, and digital economy revenues will be analysed to create a comprehensive region-wide mobile application.
The proposed application enables ASEAN citizens to promote their small and medium-sized enterprise ideas, attracting online financial support and foreign investment on a centralised platform. The structured approach involves planning, design, development, and support with a unified ASEAN consensus.
Additionally, factors like communication infrastructure, mobile accessibility, and external market advocacy will contribute to effective implementation and long-term economic sustainability. The paper also explores how the application can create competitive and diversified ASEAN economies and utilizes regional digital market data to reinforce projected economic gains.
Furthermore, the policy discusses how the application can break down social barriers to entry, benefiting marginalized groups such as women, youth, and rural communities. By providing a regionally accessible platform for SME ideas, it aims to engage these demographics, ultimately strengthening ASEAN economies through grassroots development and citizen participation. In conclusion, this policy seeks to increase citizen engagement and ownership, sustainably boosting national ASEAN economies.
